Thomas Geotechnical Services (TGS) provided Quality Control (QC) testing and inspection services for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) E8U74 TSM&O Auxiliary Lane Expansion project along the Florida Turnpike in Broward County. The project consists of approximately seven miles of roadway widening, expanding the existing six-lane corridor to eight lanes to improve traffic flow, operational efficiency, and regional mobility.
The infrastructure improvements included the construction of auxiliary lanes in both northbound and southbound directions, drainage enhancements, median concrete barriers, noise walls, roadway signing and paving, signalization, and landscaping improvements. Additional project elements included pipe culvert jack and bore operations, culvert installation and backfill, drainage swales, and coordination with adjacent properties and canal systems to support long-term roadway performance and resilience.
TGS provided comprehensive QC testing, inspection, and reporting services throughout construction to ensure compliance with FDOT standards and project specifications. Services included laboratory and field testing, embankment and subgrade evaluation, structural concrete sampling, drainage inspections, and engineering oversight.
Key services included:

TGS provided geotechnical engineering services for roadway and multimodal improvements along the Center Street corridor in Palm Beach County. The project supports enhanced mobility, safety, and long-term corridor performance through roadway upgrades, intersection improvements, and utility enhancements designed to strengthen regional connectivity and support future growth.
Improvements along this key east-west corridor included roadway milling and resurfacing, ADA-compliant sidewalk upgrades, drainage system enhancements, intersection improvements, and upgraded traffic signal infrastructure with mast arm installations. Additional project elements included LED street lighting, landscaping, utility coordination, and bicycle lane accommodations to support safer, more multimodal transportation options.
TGS provided a comprehensive geotechnical engineering program to support both roadway and structural design elements throughout the corridor. Services included subsurface exploration, pavement evaluation, laboratory testing, and engineering analysis to develop recommendations for pavement systems, embankments, and structural foundations.
The team conducted soil borings, pavement cores, and field testing to characterize subsurface conditions and support roadway widening and infrastructure improvements. Additional investigations were completed for proposed mast arms, lighting structures, and traffic signal foundations to ensure long-term structural performance and design reliability.
Key services included:

TGS provided Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services for the Congress Avenue Improvements – Phase A project in Palm Beach County. The roadway enhancement project supports increased mobility, safety, and multimodal connectivity within a growing corridor through the construction of new transportation infrastructure designed to improve access and long-term traffic operations.
Phase A included the construction of a new three-lane roadway featuring a center turn lane, paved shoulders, curb and gutter, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, a roundabout, and stormwater drainage infrastructure. Designed to accommodate both residential and commercial growth, the improvements enhance connectivity and safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists while improving overall corridor functionality.
TGS provided full Construction Materials Testing services throughout construction to support quality assurance and verify compliance with project specifications. The team performed field and laboratory testing of soils, base materials, and concrete to evaluate subgrade performance, material quality, and construction compliance across roadway and site infrastructure components.
Testing efforts included density verification, concrete strength evaluation, and engineering oversight to ensure roadway systems and supporting infrastructure met performance standards throughout construction.
Key services included:

TGS provided Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services for the Northlake Boulevard Improvements project in Palm Beach County. The corridor enhancement project supports roadway expansion and infrastructure improvements designed to enhance mobility, improve safety, and strengthen long-term transportation performance along a key regional corridor.
The project included roadway construction and associated civil infrastructure improvements along Northlake Boulevard to improve traffic flow, corridor functionality, and overall transportation efficiency. Improvements were designed to support growing traffic demands while enhancing roadway performance and user safety.
TGS provided comprehensive Construction Materials Testing services throughout construction to support quality assurance and verify compliance with project specifications. Field and laboratory testing efforts focused on evaluating the performance of soils, roadway base materials, pavement systems, and structural concrete components to support long-term roadway durability and construction quality.
Testing and inspection services were coordinated throughout active construction to help ensure material performance standards and construction requirements were consistently achieved.
Key services included:

TGS provided Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services for intersection improvement projects at Palmetto Park Road & SR-7 and SW 18th Street & SR-7 in Palm Beach County. The corridor enhancements were designed to improve traffic operations, increase intersection capacity, and enhance safety along one of the region’s high-volume transportation corridors.
The project included the reconfiguration and relocation of traffic separators and landscaped medians along SR-7 to accommodate extended left-turn lanes and improve turning efficiency. Additional improvements included milling and resurfacing operations following roadway modifications to enhance pavement performance and overall corridor functionality.
Designed to reduce delays, improve vehicle circulation, and minimize traffic conflict points, the improvements support safer and more efficient movement through these key intersections.
TGS provided full Construction Materials Testing services throughout construction to support quality assurance and verify compliance with project specifications. Services included field and laboratory testing of soils, roadway base materials, and concrete systems to evaluate material performance and support construction quality across roadway improvements.
